Ioana Cheptea is a Canadian-Romanian screenwriter with a drive to write emotionally resonant and deeply human stories that speak to an international audience. After graduating from Vancouver Film School with a focus in Screenwriting she furthered her craft in 2024, completing the renowned Serial Eyes program in Berlin. Ioana has collaborated on a diverse scope of projects, developing scripts for various genres, from projects such as ‘War of the Wings’ for Constantine Films and ‘The Substitute Bride’ for mobile streaming platforms ShortMax and TikTok. Ioana has previously written for Simsala Productions in Czechia, Big Time Decent in Vancouver, Canada and currently works as an in-house writer with Sparkland Pictures. She has written award-winning short films such as LoveSick, which received awards in the Wallachia International Film Festival and the Hollywood Script Awards. She has also written, produced and directed an award winning comedy short titled ‘Skim Milk’, and her most recent short film ‘Fast Forward’ is currently in production. She takes on a multifaceted approach to filmmaking frequently working as a script reader for film festivals and costume designer as well. Ioana is currently developing multiple projects, including a sketch comedy show with the Vancouver Improv Centre, a horror feature script with Producer Rene Brar and Telefilm Canada as well as many personal projects in the comedy and drama genres!
